Our garden lies in the heart of the Zselic Hills, near the village of Bőszénfa, surrounded by gentle slopes and lush silver lime and beech forests. Part of the approximately three-hectare area was brought back into cultivation in 2016 after several years of rest. From the very beginning, we have worked without the use of chemicals. We are currently in the conversion period toward certified organic farming.

At the beginning, we created a mother garden shaped like flower petals, where we planted a variety of aromatic plants. We observed their development and carried out trial distillations. Based on the results, only those species were propagated into smaller plots that thrive in this environment and yield valuable essential oils. At present, we cultivate ten different medicinal and culinary plants. Respect for nature is fundamental to us. We work according to the principles of organic farming, without the use of chemicals. All stages of work, from sowing to harvest, are carried out by hand.

“Beyond the body- and soul-restoring energy of essential oils, we have also experienced how much care, humility and love are required for seeds to become plants, and for those plants to give birth to a unique scent captured in a small glass bottle.”

spring

Once the frosts have passed, outdoor work can begin: rejuvenation, pruning, hoeing, seed sowing, raising seedlings, planting out, propagation by division. Then, almost suddenly, tiny shoots emerge, and the garden comes to life, dressing itself in fresh green. As everything grows, the list of tasks expands at the same pace, and the weeding and mowing that continue until autumn begin. Everything becomes larger, fuller and greener.

summer

One after another, the plants burst into bloom. First the thyme flowers, then the sage turns blue, followed in gentle sequence by the rest. Harvesting and distillation begin. We do everything within our power to preserve the healing vitality of the plants to the greatest possible extent. For this reason, we strive to harvest at the most optimal moment.

Autumn

When autumn is long and warm, we are able to harvest lemon balm and common sage for a second time. We also collect seeds from the finest plants set aside for propagation.

winter

Just like nature itself, the garden rests in winter. This is the season of planning, when we decide which plants need renewal and what will be planted in the rested plots. We sort the seeds we have collected and acquire new ones when needed.
